Holiday Regions in Salzburg

Zell am See – Kaprun

The holiday region Zell am See-Kaprun offers a wide variety of recreational activities, but is also known for its spas offering relaxation and wellness. A glittering lake, a snow-white glacier, and the green mountain pastures of the Alps; that is what makes Zell am See-Kaprun so unique. The picturesque municipality of Zell am See has been a health resort since 1961 and lies at the foot of Schmitten Mountain. It combines the advantages of a small city with holiday highlights such as Lake Zell and nearby ski areas. Kaprun lies at the foot of the prominent Kitzsteinhorn Mountain. Here you can enjoy winter sports from October to May in the glacier ski area approximately 3,000 metres above sea level.

Whether you are a beginner skier or a carving professional, 138 kilometres of runs across 60 pistes offer something for every winter enthusiast. Lake Zell is perfect for swimming and water sports, but also ice sports. In the winter, you can practice your pirouettes on the glittering ice as you skate in the open air.

In the summer, the lake invites you to spend a fun-filled swimming holiday against the backdrop of the breath-taking mountains. Hikers and climbers can enjoy a paradise of approximately 400 km of trails at all altitudes in Zell am See-Kaprun. The best of the best in cycling have also found this region to be enticing. In 2002, Zell am See-Kaprun was host to the Mountain Bike World Cup and has hosted a total of 13 World Cup competitions over the years.

Zell am See-Kaprun is also a haven for golf lovers. Surrounded by the beautiful Alps, golf enthusiasts can enjoy 36 holes on two large golf courses.

Other new highlights of the region include the TAUERN SPA and Gipfelwelt 3000. Relax in the indoor and outdoor pools at TAUERN SPA and let go of your worries in the saunas or with a massage or spa treatment. Gipfelwelt 3000 offers a wonderful view of 30 Alpine mountains, one of which is the Großglockner, Austria's highest mountain. Cinema 3000 presents guests an overview of the flora and fauna of the mountains, and at the National Park Gallery you can discover the diversity of the Hohe Tauern National Park. There is also a restaurant offering culinary delights and a magnificent panoramic view of the Austrian Alpine world
