Wolfgangsee
Autumn beckons!
When the leaves on the trees around Lake Wolfgang begin to change colour and the first autumn farm festivals are underway, you know it is the time of year when nature dons its beautiful colours and the weather becomes more predictable. The holiday region of Lake Wolfgang invites you to spend time in the crisp mountain air hiking and discovering all it has to offer. The third weekend in October is dedicated to the international race around Lake Wolfgang, "Rund um dem Wolfgangsee". Over 2,000 racers give it their all, running 27, 10, or 5 km.
Winter has arrived!
"White snowflakes dance softly, glistening in the sun and enveloped in happiness and joy as the whole valley is covered with a blanket of snow." The month of December ushers us into the quiet time of the year – Advent. In the villages of St. Gilgen, Strobl and St. Wolfgang, 'Lake Wolfgang Advent' opens its doors to guests on the weekends. Authentic Christmas markets, events with readings and lectures, pastoral plays, concerts, torch-lit hikes, and much more warm the hearts of visitors. The three villages share a common charm, and you can travel from one to the other by boot. A free ski bus brings you to the pistes for skiing and snowboarding at the Postalm family ski area or to the Dachstein West ski region. You can cross-country ski on the high-altitude trails or in the valley. Enjoy a winter hike with or without snowshoes. Toboggan by day or night, spend some time at the fun park or ice skating (sometimes even on the lake). All this and more in winter at Lake Wolfgang!
